OWGK SHORE UP THEIR DEFENCE
Monday July 6th/09
The Ottawa-west Golden Knights Jr. Hockey
Club are pleased to
announce the
acquisition of
defenseman Mitch
Melanson from the
Arnprior Packers .
In return Arnprior
receive two (2)
talented young
prospects in Chris
Shepherd and Kyle
Drisdelle both of
who are graduating
midgets from the
last year's city
championship Major
Midget team The
Nepean Raiders
coached by Peter
Tenute.
The Knights are
hoping that Melanson
will shore up what
should be a good
defensive core.
President / Owner
Blake Sinclair is
expecting Melanson
to come to camp in
excellent shape. We
are looking for him
to add a little
offence on the back
end but like
everyone else in
this organization
knows, he'll have to
earn his ice time.

Jun 1, 2009, 6:25 PM EDT
Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier has announced that the Sabres have signed forward Paul Byron to a three-year entry level contract. Byron was Buffalo’s sixth-round selection (179th overall) in the 2007 Entry Draft.
Byron (5’9”, 165 lbs., 4/27/1989) just finished his third season with the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he was fourth in league scoring with 99 points (33+66) in 64 games.
"He's not very big," says one of his former coaches, Ottawa West Golden Knights junior B head coach and president Blake Sinclair, "but he plays like a 200-pounder."
